Second Spanish edition, with the “Descripcion” in the first volume, of this essential work for the study of the discovery, exploration of America.
This is the genuine best edition of the work, compiled under the direction of one of the most important scholars of the early Spanish Enlightenment, Andrés González de Barcia, often referred to as the first Americanist.

The maps were re-engraved and the geography remains the same, but there are changes, for instance, to decorative elements. The handsome, historical vignettes and portraits on the engraved titles are the same in both first and second editions, except for the imprints.

The “Tabla General de cosas notables” is bound at the end of volume V.

In the present copy, volume I (“Descripcion” and first decade) bears date 1730 on title pages, volume II (second and third decades) 1726, volume III (four and fifth decades) 1730, volume IV (sixth and seventh decades) 1726 and volume V (eighth decade and “Tabla General de cosas notables”) 1730.
