First and only edition of this legendary work, an outstanding example of the Spanish Baroque style. Published to commemorate the entry of Philip V into Spain, it records the festivities held in his honor in Barcelona, as well as his subsequent departure for Italy.

The illustration is superb. The portrait of the King on horseback is the work of one of the finest engravers active in Paris at the time, Gerard Edelinck, after a drawing by Teodoro Ardemans, court painter. The impressive folding engraved plates are by Berterham and Lambertus Causé, after original drawings by Felipe Palette, royal architect, and depict various moments of the journey, including the King’s departure from Barcelona, his arrival in Naples, the journey from Milan to Cremona, and his passage along the river Po.

«No es difícil conseguir ejemplares de la presente obra: lo no común es lograrlos con las láminas en buen estado, porque como su magnitud exigen que vayan dobladas, esto ha motivado el que se encuentren maltratadas.» – Salvá.

Superb copy.
